Zunes are Banned From the Classrooms

Ever thought of using your Zune or iPod as a cheating device? Some students have done so and now the devices are banned from the classrooms. The cell phones have been banned for a while because of the messaging capabilities but music players were still allowed until recently.

Pre-recorded songs with the answers or formulas were found in some players. Others have converted the lyrics of the songs with answers of their exams.

There is no report on the Zune's Wifi feature being used to cheat. I imagine that some students have at least thought about it! Answers could be converted to pictures and then shared with your buddies during the exam!

Anyone ever used a digital player to cheat or knows another way to use it as cheating device?

Too bad the ban was not in place before President Bush got out of school! Things would have been different!

I used the programming feature of my TI-86 calculator to cheat my way to an MBA (I hated accounting).

If people can cheat with the Zune more power to them!

They're going to find a new way to cheat. The only way you can really prevent them is to *gasp* monitor the students. Ya know, like walk around the room a bit checking for conspicuous actions. Don't be afraid to check what the music they're listening to is every once in awhile, or even just check for earbuds. It's not hard to do a few random sweeps up and down the seats. I think it's alot of kneejerk reactions to things that end up causing more hassle then helping issues.
