"Mobile Magazines" for your Zune

Posted by Roman Po

Perooz

While waiting for the release of Zune 2, and its podcast enabled software, Perooz.com has relaunched its online "Mobile Magazine" site offering free web-based service that provides mainstream content such as videos, magazines, newspaper articles and much more for users of portable media devices such as the Sony PSP, Apple iPod and Microsoft Zune.

Getting magazines on your mobile device is very easy and can be done in as little as 3 steps. Simply find the magazine you are looking for on Perooz.com and download it to your computer by using the appropriate device download link. Extract the downloaded magazine using any “Zip” utility and then transfer the extracted folder and images to your devices “Photo” feature using whatever method depicted by your device manufacturer. Thats it… Now you are ready to enjoy your Mobile Magazine.

The site has content ranging from comics, movies, news, tech, mobile magazines (optimized to fit each player's screen) and many more coming soon as their site says. This service is also applicable on Palm devices and larger screen PMP's like Archos and iPhone.

I think this so called "mobile magazines" will look great on the Zune 2 large 3.2" screen. The only tedious part is downloading and uploading the stuff right onto our devices. There is a “Direct to Device Transfer” button but I wish it would automatically download and upload just like podcasts.

As a regular Zune user, Do you think this website serves a good purpose for fulfilling our content needs?

Possessive "its" has no apostrophe.

thanks Vegan, correction made.

I'd hardly call these magazines. Try Zinio if you want a full magazine experience. Unfortunately for Zune, there is no PDF or XPS reader. And frankly I'm not sure how fun it would to navigate a page on any portable media player. What I do want to see is Zune Marketplace offer tv shows, photos and audiobooks.

a .pdf reader would be great. I agree with the tv shows and audio books as well. I travel with alot of books and I would rather just read them on my screen. I got use to it on my Palm device and it isn't really that hard. I kinda feel like Picard when he reads his books actually LOL

I just purchased a Zune for my wife who likes to listen to books. I've looked at a couple of audio books sites but haven't found one that provides abooks for the Zune. Any suggestions?
Tks,
