Zune Dock V2 Opening

Guess the look on my face when I had stopped by Best Buy after work to buy the Simpsons Game and I happened to stop by the Zune accessories.  Right before me was the first piece of my complete Zune 80 collection, the new Zune dock! 

It was $99.99 or they had the dock by itself for $49.99, I of course bought the whole kit.  I was shocked when I turned it around and saw the composite cables still came bundled with it and a little disappointed.  Once I got it home I realized the back of the dock has a cover that had the output jacks for normal component cables!  Hello Monster Cables, lol. 

Two things that make me a little sad: One, the USB cable is built into the dock.  Two, the controller feels super cheap and the Zune pad isn't fully functional (probably needs the Nov update on the old Zune to work properly).  The good points of the new dock is that is small, has a rubber grip on the bottom and the new AC wall adapter has folding prongs.  Anyway, enjoy the 18 pics I took of it and if anyone has anymore questions about it just ask.

does the dock for $50 come with the new remote?? Also, does the old remote work with the new dock?? How does the Zune 30 fit into it??

The $49.99 dock comes with the dock and the AC adapter it does not have the option to plug in either the composite or componet cables later or buy a remote down the road, its just a dock. I tested the old controller and it worked but not well. One more note, the new controller is not magnetic, a little tear came out my eye.

My Best Buy said they would have the new car kit very soon so I will be picking that up for sure and post pictures.

aww man, no more magnetic remotes? I like letting my remote stick to my PC case for easy access!

Sorry for not answering it before but the way the different Zunes fit into the same dock is that it comes with three adapters that fit the 30 gb, 80 gb and the flash Zunes.

I'm disappointed with the USB cable being hardwired.

I know I was too but it looks very well bit and on the bottom of the dock it has a rubber grip which is awesome. The main gripe I have is the controller but I have already said that.

Soon I will have opening picks of the Zune dock and the new Altec Lansing dock both of which are now available at my Sioux City, IA Best Buy

The High-res album arts, the component cable and the 640x480 resolution...I can't wait to see this on my large screen TV.

Do we know if the new Zune menu will be outputted in 640x480?

I would assume so but only through componet not composite

What type of remote is it? Wireless technology or IR?

I would love to set this up in my car and if it's wireless, a cheapo 5 inch LCD setup on my dash will give me the video from my zune and allow me to store my zune safely in my glove box. Thumbs down to Microsoft for failing to put this information on their website....
