Consumer Reports Advice For Holiday Shoppers

Posted by Jonas D

Giftidea Remember Consumer Reports?  They are those busy folks that review and rate just about everything that any consumer would need to purchase, all from an independent perspective (recall that their magazine doesn't accept any advertising).  I've used their magazine in the past to choose cars, and video equipment.  They've weighed in this holiday season on two issues of interest to the Zune community.

The first is that consumers that purchase their gear online are generally more satisfied.  Well, we are the "internet generation," and why wait on some line at 4 am, when I can get a similar deal online, not to mention some extra sleep.  They also recommend some shopping sites, and I can second the vote for Amazon as they're generally a better value than the local stores in my neck of the woods.

Of more direct interest is what they have to say about choosing a media player:

The best rated MP3 players were the Apple and Microsoft's Zune.

Wow!  Once again, what a difference a year makes.  This may be one more reason why the Zune's shelf space is empty in too many stores (not to mention the virtual shelf space of all the retailers).  You can read the story directly here, and it mentions a few other product categories (I agree completely with the digital camera recommendations as well).  Happy shopping!
