Zune Social and Marketplace are down: Pending an Announcement?

Today, Zune Marketplace and Zune Social will be down for upgrades and scheduled maintenance. Once the production teams bring these back online, I’ll post again – stay tuned.
This could only mean an improved version of the Zune Marketplace and Zune Social's back-end, but it could also mean a Christmas gift for all of us, Zune fans. Let's hope for something cool...

I wish this update also included a firmware/software upgrade, but I have my doubts. In my experience, Microsoft is not known to act so swiftly to add features. Hopefully, I am proven wrong.
