Zune On the Road

Ford_sync_system Who says the Americans can't build a good small car?  I had the opportunity to drive a Ford Focus not too long ago, and I particularly liked its handling, power, trunk space and even the fuel economy.  This car now can add the Sync system to its impressive feature list.  The Sync system promises to integrate in two essential car electronic functions: hands free cell phone calling, and media playback that is voice controlled.

However, we've all heard about systems like this that didn't deliver the goods when the media player met the road.  Thankfully, this time Ford, helped by Microsoft, looks like they got it right.  CNET got their hands on a Ford Focus with the Sync installed, and took all of this electronics once around the track.

Also of of note, they decided to see whether the Sync system worked better with the iPod, or the Zune.  Not to my surprise, the sync system worked equally well with both players.  Rock on!

I really want to get sync in my first car, but I also don't want my first car to be a Ford. (I don't want ANY of my cars to be Fords). I wish there was sync on something other than Ford, like maybe Honda or Toyota or Nissan. All they have is Ford, Mercury and Lincoln, all Ford owned car companies. If I can get sync as a separate add-on for a Honda Civic hybrid or a Toyota Prius, or even an add-on you buy from the store and install yourself, I would buy it the day I get my car!

I'd say give time and the Sync will be offered in aftermarkert head units. It has alot of potential and someone will eventually pick it up.

Clearly Ford needs to license this technology out to other car manufacturers. I wish they would share it with the Japanese as well. If there were a Toyota or Nissan that came with it, I'd definitely buy it with my next vehicle.

What is wrong with FORD cars?

is that a zune with fw v1?
