Useful Key Combos
Today, when I brought my Zune 80 out, and plugged it into my cassette adapter, it seemed to be dead. It was weird as I could see that the screen was on, but the backlight was off, and it was completely frozen. I tried holding the play button to no effect. Even the down + back combo which normally puts it into a deep sleep didn't revive it. I started wondering about how long the warranty on my Zune 80 (one year), and if my Zune was going to have to take an RMA vacation. I knew it wasn't the battery as I had it connected to the computer yesterday and it was fully charged.
Before contacting Microsoft, I decided to do a little research. Over here I found out about the reset key combo: up + back. Within seconds the Zune was rebooting. Ahh, musical goodness returns!
I hadn't heard about this up + back before, and it reminds me the soft reset button on the back of my Palm that got me out of trouble plenty of times. Keep it in mind, you never know. Then again, maybe I should just get the extended warranty.

I assume that by 'back' you mean left?
And, I know what direction up is. ;)

I have found often that if you simply lock and unlock the Zune it will solve that problem without having to reboot.
It is also possible to clear all of your content during a reboot simply by holding the right buttons.

By "back" I mean the button on the left side of the Zune with the arrow on it.
Would it really matter if I cleared the content? I could just reload it, right?
