RockPod 08 Lite

Posted by Jonas D

Build18linsmWhile it may seem a little funny to use a Linux based tool to convert video to a Microsoft Zune, I'm eager to take this for a spin and see if it works.

There are plenty of PDAs or personal digital assistants out there that use Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating system and they’re a great way to playback videos. Most of the budget models including the popular HP iPaq rx1950 come with large three-inch LCDs, larger than most iPods and dedicated flash-storage video devices.

However, while RockPod 08 Lite has a specific video setting for PDAs, there’s actually two ways it can create video for these devices.

Source, including download.

Update: All that glitters isn't gold.  I downloaded the program, but all my startup icons Windows doesn't recognize what type of files they are.  If anyone has better luck, post in the comments below, but to me the program doesn't seem worth the effort.

As the developer of RockPod 08 Lite, maybe I can help. Give us some more details about the exact problem and I'll check it out for you.

theres another really great converter thats threw and threw free. its really a free front end app for other free utilities. itll let you easily select the size of the video to format for zunes. the reason i use it is so that i can convert files to .wmv so that i can watch it in 2x speed. its actually started out as an app for the 360...
dang i cant find it. i have it at home.. ill post it later.

Hey Rockpod, thanks for the offer of some help.

When I downloaded it to my WinXP machine, and I opened the file, Windows didn't recognize any of the files. They all came up with the Windows logo on them like it didn't know what type of file it was. I downloaded the Windows version from the free link provided where I linked to above. Is there somewhere else I should be downloading it from?

here ya go...
