Poll: How many Zuners are we?

Posted by Stephane Dion

Microsoft has been extremely quiet about the number of Zune sold since the inception of the Zune player in November 2006. The only number revealed was 1.2 Million Zunes shipped on June 30th 2007. That means that for the first 7.5 months, Microsoft was shipping around 160 000 Zunes per month.

If we keep this number has the rock bottom monthly unit sold, and sales can’t be much lower that the v1 Zune, this means that by the end of March 2008, we should have had a Zune community of a minimum of 2 640 000 units shipped.

Now, we know that the Zune 30 fire sale last fall reached record sales numbers. We also know that the Zune 80 is well-known as a better device than the Zune 30. And with the introduction of the Zune 4 and Zune 8, we have cheaper Zunes on the market as well. These positive facts must certainly have had an impact on sales. No?

So, my question today is: How many Zunes are now in the wild?

i got a zune 30 during the fire sale as a replacement for my Archos jukebox. i have never seen another zune user, so i assume we are a rare breed. at this point i don't really recommend the zune to other people because of the clumsy user interface, but if they have another fire sale then i will be recommending it.

I have no problems with the UI on zune. I have 2 complaints. Software, and inability to connect as a hard drive. I actually liked the OLD zune software better...at least you could drag and drop in and out of the app...now you have to have all your folders synced up and it just sucks.
