Microsoft offers Zune Extended Service Plan

Posted by Robert Nelson

Zune_logo_250_2 Always a big decision when it comes to electronics; whether or not you should purchase the extended warranty, or just go with the standard and hope for the best. Personally I have always avoided extended warranty plans for electronics and just kept my fingers crossed. I also tend to upgrade frequently so the extended portion is not always needed. The latest company to ask us the question is Microsoft, who has recently began offering an extended service contract for the Zune.

The new service plan is available for Zune owners in both the US and Canada and is open for users with a Zune 4 or 8 as well as a Zune 30 and 80. The service plan, which will set you back $59.95 can be added anytime within the first year of purchase and will give you an additional year of coverage for a total of two years.

While its a nice option to have, this one will be have to be up to you to decide whether its worth the extra money or not. I would say if you are planning to keep your Zune for the full 2-years, then it could prove helpful, especially with a higher priced Zune 80.
