Zunecast Zapping

Posted by Jonas D

Images With the latest software/firmware update on the Zune, I can tell you that things are running quite smoothly on my Zune 80.  My albums are now organized better than ever, and have the album covers like never before.  However, it was more than a minor upgrade, and I got the impression that as time went on, we'd find out some more features.  Here's an example:

Here is a little known COOL new feature to the Zune Podcast support in the recent 2.5 firmware update. This feature is REVOLUTIONARY and I am surprised that it has not been blogged about before now, but you can now send video podcast episodes to other Zune devices using its built-in WiFi radio.

At first, this sounds like a pretty cool feature.  Now we can send that cool video from Zune to Zune.  However, before we do the "dance of joy," I've gotta recall that I've never seen another Zune to share anything with.  The really cool feature that would make far better use of the WiFi radio would to be able to download new episodes of podcasts entirely from the wireless.  With more and more municipalities with open WiFi projects, I'd love to be able to download the latest episode without my computer around.  So, I'll call this latest feature a little half-hearted, but a baby step forward nonetheless.
