Zune Team Responds to Zune Doom Chatter
The chatter of the future of the Zune eco-system on Friday generated a quick response from the Zune team, who posted this on the Zune blog on Friday:
There's been a lot of speculation today about some comments made about Zune in the Financial Times. Since Cesar is on his way down to Vegas for CES, I wanted to jump in with a little context...
We've been saying for some time that our strategy for Zune is to provide a great entertainment experience across multiple screens and devices. Software and services have always been at the core of this strategy - this is nothing new. Today, this means a great Zune experience on the PC and portable Zune devices, and as we have said before we think it makes sense to extend that experience to other devices in the future.
As always, thanks for everyone's support.
These comments leave some confusion though. While the Zune platform might be expanded to future “screens and devices,” what does that mean for the current Zune portable player form factor? Will it continue to see support and upgrades, or will it becoming a learning moment and something left behind by Microsoft?

I really don't think we have to worry about the zune (be it the 30 gig or the later models) being left behind by newer and...more advanced models. The Zune team has done a fantastic job of making the Zune thirty just a functional as ever (minus that one little new year bug...) and i expect that they plan to do so. No one wants to go out and buy the new ipod when they just got a model that came out 4 weeks prior to the BIG AND BAD model. Fortunately, Microsoft learned well, and they are keeping us zune lovers up to date with software that is used on all the zune platforms.

I agree with John all this gloom talk and negativity occured with the 30 model but they still get the updates so therefore i firmly believe the Zune will live for quite a while.
Long live the Zune
