Zune Kiosk

Zune

Seems like these kisoks are popping up everywhere.  You know, those "stores within a store" that highlight one product or product line from a manufacturer?  Looks like the latest marketing effort for the Zune involves them putting their products into a kiosk.  While this concept may appear at one of those new Microsoft stores, it also could easily fit in at the local big block retailer.  I think it does a good job of highlighting and displaying the Zune line.  Also note the laptops to show that the Zune can update wirelessly.

Zune Travel Charger

Charger
It's always good to be able to charge your Zune while on the go.  Unfortunately, out of the box, the Zune only comes with a cable to connect to the computer via a USB port to trickle in some charge.  If you're planning on taking the Zune with you, and leaving the computer home, you are out of luck if it is a longer trip.

This is where this recently announced accesory comes into play.  Here's the details from Inspiretech:

Walnut, CA, January 16, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Inspiretech, makers of high quality chargers and accessories for the Zune, iPod and iPhone, recently released their new travel charger for the Zune 30GB. The Inspiretech Zune travel charger features enhanced internal circuitry to manage the charging status and to prevent over and under charging. The Zune car charger has a built-in red LED light to notify you of your Zunes charging status and works with all standard power outlets in North America. The Zune travel charger from Inspiretech is also compatible with all Zune players.  Inspiretech covers all their products with a one year manufactures warranty and your satisfaction is guaranteed. The Inspiretech Zune travel charger makes a great backup charger for your Zune to take with you whenever you need to juice up your Zune.

While a charger for a Zune is nothing new, the price listed here is a downright affordable $8.99.  At that price, this accesory can be an impulse buy!

Zune Bug; A Zune compatible MP3 playing nightlight

Zune_bug_450

Ashley Payne has unveiled a concept nightlight, which normally I would not be getting very excited about, but in this case it offers compatibility with the Microsoft Zune, which in my opinion makes it very cool. Simply being called the Zune Bug, the nightlight looks like a fancy plug-in air freshener, but is really much cooler.

Just plug the little device in and it will automatically play the audio content from your Zune over your home networks connection. It even has the ability to change color based on the tempo of the music, which may possibly make it hard to sleep depending on your playlist of choice...better choice wisely.

Sadly the Zune Bug is just a concept at this point, and as much as I think it makes total sense and would probably purchase one, these items often never see the light of day and never make it to market. Of course if it were to come to market the big question would most likely come down to just how much it will retail for.

PDASmart now offering Lens Assembly replacements for the Zune

Zune_80_lens_replacement Have a Zune 80 that has more than its fair share of scratches on the display? Well worry no longer because PDASmart now has the plastic lens assembly available. The Lens Assembly for the Zune 80 is not as low-cost as one would hope, it retails for $50.00 if you want to do the work yourself of for an extra $15 you can send it in and have them do it for you. However, I suppose it is still a lot more affordable than having to buy a new Zune and much better than having to look at scratches everyday.

While PDASmart already offers LCD replacement assemblies for the 30GB, 80GB and flash-based 4GB and 8GB Zune, the Zune 80 remains the only player with a plastic lens cover replacement available.

When you sit down and think, it seems odd that this is the first alarm clock made specifically for the Zune, after all its been just about a year and a half since its release. Its nice to see someone stepping up to the plate, even if it is a little late.

Belkin_zune_case_armband_8gb_2

Here’s the last new Zune case from Belkin for tonight.

Belkin adapted its Sports armband for the second generation Zune players. The armband are still hand-washable and water-resistant (Be careful! It doesn’t make the Zune water-resistant!)

The case is made with a reflective material for use in the dark and has a useful key pocket.

Belkin offers a lifetime warranty with this product. Retail price is also $29.99.

A picture of the Zune 80 version is available after the jump.

Belkin: Remix Acrylic Case for Zune 4GB/8GB and Zune 80Gb

Belkin_zune_80gb_acrylic_case Part of the new second generation Zune case line-up, the “Remix” Acrylic Zune case is available for all new Zune players (4GB, 8GB and 80GB).  This form-fitted, metal-topped acrylic case has a detachable beltclip that also serves as a kickstand.

Just like the leather Zune case, the product gives complete access to navigation, ports and dock connector.

I’m personally not a big fan of acrylic cases, but I have to admit that, at least on the pictures, this one does look good.

The cases are available now on Belkin's website. Both models have a retail price of $29.99.

Check the Zune 4/8 version just after the break.
