Silicone Zune Skin Review

This week we took a look at the thinnest silicone skin ever. Zuneone is selling a silicone Zune skin that won’t add thickness to the Zune player and also give a decent protection against scratches.

Pros:  Inexpensive. Offer your Zune a good protection against scratches. Very thin, does not add to the size of the Zune. All controls are available at all time.

Cons: No protection against drops.

Product quality (7.5/10):
Even though the skin comes in a low quality packaging, the quality of the product is respectable. Aesthetically the silicone skin does not make your Zune look better but it does not make it uglier either. The resilience of the silicone is very good and after stretching the skin, it comes back in its original position and fits the Zune perfectly again. Imperfections in the material are visible but nothing too annoying for us. Having the Zune in our hands is very pleasant.

Usability (7.5/10):
Inserting the Zune in the skin was really easy. You can stretch it to insert the player without the fear of tearing it. Once the skin is in place you add the screen protector and you’re done. Controls are all easily usable and connectors are also accessible at all time. The skin does what it needs to do, not more not less.

Player Protectiveness (7.5/10):
The only real protection you are going to get from the skin is from scratches. The skin is so thin that it won’t protect the Zune if you smash or drop it. The screen protector offers a decent protection against scratches as well. The product will also give you a basic protection against liquid spilling but don’t expect too much from that. With the silicone skin, the Zune becomes non-skid and this could prevent accidental slipping of the player.

Conclusion (7.5/10):
If you are not going to spend a lot of money on Zune cases, this skin is the minimum you should go for. If you are serious about keeping your Zune in good conditions, you should not hesitate to buy this silicone skin. $7.95 won’t hurt your budget and will give your Zune a chance to survive in your daily activities. Besides the price and the scratch protection offered by this Zune skin, we really liked that it does not add to the thickness of the Zune.<
