Zune Stuck In 2008?
After an unexpected "Zune Bug" reared its ugly head yesterday, the original Zune, not in the spotlight for some time, has been front and center. While Microsoft reassured users that "All would be well, and to all a good night," it appears that statement may have been a vision of sugar plum fairies. It would appear that at least some users are not back to normal, and the original Zune is in a state of SNAFU.
While there are some workarounds, they appear to be homesprung remedies with varying results so far. For the time being, the safest route is to simply leave the Zune disconnected from the computer for the next few days while this all gets worked out. I'm confident that the Zune team will be back on the job next week, and someone has gotta work on this, right?
In the meantime, here are Microsoft's official recommendations on the issue.

Im not sure if this is one of the...bugs in the 30, but for some reason, after the leap year incident, my 30 will be playing music...and it turns silent. I don't quite know what to do... Hope I'll get it worked out.

I am having the same prob w/ my 80, where on some files, it plays a few seconds and then goes silent but still shows as if its playing. on other files the entire zune freezes and i have to restart using the back+up trick. does anyone else have the same prob? any ideas what it is or how to fix it?

ok, i tried resetting by draining the batt and then recharging it. it's still locks up. i can't do anything.
i try to reboot but nothing. i opened the zune and disconnected the batt for 30 sec then replace batt. it started working again for about 20 sec than it went back to zune logo w/ white bar and than it locks. i try this a few times but now it doesn't reboot. now what? i've had this zune 30gb since it first came out and i love it. i'm starting to hate it now and i wont buy another one. please come out with a solution soon, i miss my music, movies ...thanks

mine's had the same problem. it'll be in the middle of a song and just reset itself or shut off completely for no reason.
